Microsoft 365 Introduces New 3-Hour App Timeout Feature

Beginning Tuesday, September 26, 2023, Microsoft 365 users will experience a very minor change when using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft apps in a web browser. If a web-based Microsoft 365 app has not been interacted with for three hours, a pop-up warning will appear indicating that the user will be signed out. If the user responds to the notification, they will remain signed in. If not, they will be automatically signed out. This new, enhanced user interaction timeout feature replaces Microsoft's previous approach to discerning user activity when using their applications in a web-based environment.
